Relative humidity (RH) is the amount of water vapor in the air compared to the maximum amount the air can hold at a given temperature, expressed as a percentage.
For example, a relative humidity of 100% means the air is fully saturated with water vapor, while 50% means it contains about half the maximum amount it can hold at that temperature. Because warm air can hold more moisture than cold air, relative humidity changes as the temperature changes—even if the amount of water vapor in the air remains the same.
